Unter dem Hügel. Eine romantische Novelle

  • Author: Aubrey Beardsley
  • Aubrey Beardsley was already selling his drawings at the age of fifteen, was commissioned to illustrate Malory's Morte d'Arthur at twenty, and was dead of tuberculosis at twenty-five. In his short career, he became the most influential illustrator of the Aesthetic movement. A good friend of Oscar Wilde, Beardsley was fired from Yellow Book magazine, where he served as editor, after Wilde's sodomy scandal. He continued to illustrate for Savoy magazine and books. One of the first artists to understand the impact of photographic processes in changing printing, Beardsley used large fields of white and black in balanced, curvilinear compositions.
