Time and Free Will

This French philosopher exerted great influence on modern thought and literature. Emphasizing the value of intuition and the non-rational, Bergson characterized time as continuous in memory (rather than fundamentally fragmented), placing change at the foundation of reality. His famous theory of élan vital, or pervasive vital energy, is described in the work Creative Evolution. His other writings include Time and Free Will and Matter and Memory.
