The Poetical Works of Thomas Tickell. With the life of the author

This poet produced such works as "On the Prospect of Peace" and the famous ballad "Lucy and Colin." He is best known, however, for his role in the famed conflict between Pope and Addison; a friend of the latter, he published, with Addison's support, a translation of Book I of the Iliad timed to rival the publication of Pope's. Tickell also published a collection of Addison's works, including an elegy he penned for the great man of letters.
