This distinguished Scottish poet is best known for his ballads and editorship of The New Monthly Magazine. Campbell's most famous work is the ballad Lord Ullin's Daughter, which tells of a young woman's elopement ending in tragedy as her boat capsizes, her pursuant father looking on. His other works include assorted narrative poems.
