Known to readers around the world for his Christian religious epic Paradise Lost, John Milton also authored untold numbers of political pamphlets and prose works. His Puritan beliefs and outspoken political views resulted in his imprisonment shortly after the Restoration. Milton went blind in his later years, and dictated many of his most famous works to friends and relatives.
