Author of the narrative poem Lalla Rookh, Moore was equally renowned as a poet and composer. He was also a close friend of both Percy Shelley and Lord Byron. When Byron left his memoirs to Moore, Moore conspired with the nobleman's publisher to burn the document - presumably to protect his late comrade's reputation.
