Schillers sämtliche Werke. Band IX. Geschichte des dreissigjährigen Kriegs

  • Author: Friedrich von Schiller
  • A German dramatist, poet and historian, Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller was driven by his own self-criticism to abandon writing plays, a talent which produced The Robbers, and Don Carlos, and embrace a more refined analysis of his own ideas. He dedicated himself to studying philosophy, namely that of Immanuel Kant, and eventually wrote treatises on aesthetics, namely On Grace and Dignity (1793) and Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man (1795). His close association with Goethe is well known: the two together, almost alone, heralded the Weimar Classicism movement.
