On the Coins of the Patan Sultans of Hindustan

Early in his career, Philip Edward Thomas was reviewing fifteen books a week for various publications, desperately trying to earn enough money as a writer to support his wife and children. He was able to make ends meet, but it meant grueling hours, selling all his review copies, and a lots of hack work. Thomas did not even begin writing poetry, as he probably had little time, until he was thirty-six. When World War I, broke out, Thomas had just started to become a prolific poet, but he decided to enlist and was killed in the battle of Arras in 1917.
