La Dame aux camélias

Illegitimate son of the man who wrote The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas fils elected to pursue literary activities in a far different vein from those of his father. Partially as a reaction against his father's sexual promiscuity, the younger Dumas wrote a number of didactic dramas on the importance of love and marriage - the most famous of these being La Dame aux camélias and Le Demi-monde.
