The son of medievalist Sir Francis Palgrave, this poet and anthologist graduated with a "first" in classics from Oxford, where he soon became a professor of poetry. Palgrave is best known for the anthology he compiled with the aid of Tennyson, the Golden Treasury of English Verse. His original works include the historical poem "Visions of England."
