Primarily known for his American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster also produced a grammar of American English, served as a judge, and co-founded Amherst College. Webster is remembered for his Federalist politics, his broad range of scholarly pursuits, and, above all, for his original part in what is now the Merriam-Webster dictionary of American English.
