Mikhail Mikhailovich Ippolitov-Ivanov (1859 - 1935),  list of works
A product of late nineteenth-century Russian schooling, Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov did not feel a pressing need to move on to new things. Indoctrinated in the nationalist philosophies of Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov, he was content to create music within the boundaries they had set - even after the Russian Revolution had radically changed the country's social and artistic life. Also a teacher, Ippolitov-Ivanov was a professor at both the Moscow and Tbilisi Conservatories.
