Director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory for twenty-five years, Glazunov maintained an active composing schedule despite his many other activities. He and his family were stricken by poverty after the communist revolution; eventually moving to Paris, Glazunov met with success as a conductor of his own works - usually with his adopted daughter Elena as piano soloist. |
