Robert Schumann (1810-1856),  list of works
After ruining his right hand while studying to be a pianist, Robert Schumann switched to composition. In addition to penning such works as the Papillons, the song-cycle Dichterliebe, and countless compositions for orchestra, Schumann also served as editor of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik for many years. His wife, pianist and composer Clara Schumann-Wieck, premiered many of his pieces.
