Franz Josef Haydn (1732-1809),  list of works
When Franz Josef Haydn became the Kapellmeister of Hungarian Prince Nicholas's estate at Esterházy, he was ordered to provide performances of two concerts, two operas, and a Sunday Mass every week. Not only did he do it, he wrote almost all of the music himself—even providing more than one hundred works for Prince Nicholas to play on the baryton. Today, Haydn is remembered, along with Mozart and Beethoven, as a towering figure among Classical composers.
