Shipwrecked, Pericles then wins Thaisa, princess of Pentapolis, as his wife. On the couple's journey home, Thaisa gives birth to a daughter, but is presumed dead. The daughter is given to foster parents and the mother left for dead; Pericles and his family are only reunited after many adventures.
