Only truly comfortable around children, Dodgson amused the famous Alice, Edith, and Lorina Liddell, the young daughters of the Dean of Christchurch, by telling stories. They were so taken with his stories that he wrote them down in the two Alice books, published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.
