A precocious child, Palgrave supposedly translated The Battle of the Frogs and Mice from Latin into French when he was just eight years old. Distinguished as a medievalist, Palgrave is best remembered for his History of Normandy and England. His son, also named Francis, was famous for his anthology of English poetry. |
