Rogier van der Weyden (1399-1464),  list of works
Like many of the great Dutch and Italian masters, Rogier van der Weyden signed and dated none of his paintings. Therefore, his entire oeuvre has been accounted for based on similarities of style with one piece, Deposition, attributed to him by a contemporary, completed for the church of Notre-Dame-du-Dehors. It has been thought in the past that van der Weyden and his teacher, Robert Campin, now held to be the mysterious Master of Flémale, were the same painter, but few scholars hold this to be true now. Van der Weyden's works stand out for their realism, but with a subtle emotional edge emerging from moving line and rich color.
