| Giovanni Tiepolo. The Banquet of Cleopatra. (1743 - 1744) | | Elibron Classics, 2001 |

| Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1696-1770), list of works | | | Born in Venice and apprenticed to a local decorative painter, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo soon outshone his master, and by his mid-twenties was already building quite a reputation for himself as a painter. Acclaim for his airy, luminous, ethereal paintings of mythological scenes spread throughout Venice, and then throughout Europe. Tiepolo painted in an open, fantastical style, his pictures nearly radiating with light and color. Toward the end of his life, he was commissioned by the Spanish to paint frescoes in the palace; after completing them, Tiepolo stayed in Spain, where he died. |
