Ernesto Cavallini

1807 - 1874

Known as the "Paganini of the clarinet," Ernesto Cavallini toured widely as a soloist and made a name for himself in virtually every major city from London to St. Petersburg. Settling in the latter city in 1852, he played at the imperial court and composed pedagogical works and concert pieces for the rest of his life. Though the six-keyed clarinet he preferred is no longer in vogue, his methods and pieces remain both valuable and popular.
